water gardening prerequisites

Copying English gardens, using roses and clematis can only go so far. Nature is imperfect, and when all else fails, remember what is going on the bench and don t stress.

The pictures of perennials that are included in this landscape plan are provided in the photo gallery at the top of the page. Hundreds of years ago when a gardener needed a specific tool, they did not jump in their car and run to the gardening store for that special tool.

If you live in an area that receives an abundance of snow, you want to avoid pruning the top of your hedges flat. Weeds that come after you have planted your garden should be rid of before they get past 3 inches tall. When gardeners think of ground covers, the goal is to cover barren ground, control erosion, and/or suppress weeds.

Another helpful hint is to stake out your garden so you know where you are going to plant your vegetables. Once you have selected your grasses make sure that the soil is prepared correctly before planting. If you have a disease you will want to prevent it from spreading.

You can always ask your local agriculture office for more tips. Fallen leaves, tree bark and bushes offer such needed protection for our beautiful friends.
